Global Atlas of Methane Metabolism Marker Genes in Soil.

Methane, a greenhouse gas, plays a pivotal role in the global carbon cycle, influencing the Earth's climate. Only a limited number of microorganisms control the flux of biologically produced methane in nature, including methane-oxidizing bacteria, anaerobic methanotrophic archaea, and methanogenic archaea. Although previous studies have revealed the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of methane-metabolizing microorganisms in local regions by using the marker genes pmoA or mcrA, their biogeographical patterns and environmental drivers remain largely unknown at a global scale. Here, we used 3419 metagenomes generated from georeferenced soil samples to examine the global patterns of methane metabolism marker gene abundances in soil, which generally represent the global distribution of methane-metabolizing microorganisms. The resulting maps revealed notable latitudinal trends in the abundances of methane-metabolizing microorganisms across global soils, with higher abundances in the sub-Arctic, sub-Antarctic, and tropical rainforest regions than in temperate regions. The variations in global abundances of methane-metabolizing microorganisms were primarily governed by vegetation cover. Our high-resolution global maps of methane-metabolizing microorganisms will provide valuable information for the prediction of biogenic methane emissions under current and future climate scenarios.

A Gaussian Function Model of Mesoscale Eddy Temperature Anomalies and Research of Spatial Distribution Characteristics

Mesoscale eddies are ubiquitous oceanic phenomena and play an important role in ocean circulation, ocean dynamics, and the transport of material energy. Temperature anomalies are a crucial parameter that reflects the state of mesoscale eddies. This study proposes a Gaussian function model to fit the vertical temperature anomaly (TA) profile to facilitate the analysis of variations, and the principle of the model is based on the fact that each TA profile tends to fluctuate around one or more peaks. The model is extracted and validated using Argo profiles within cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies in the Northwest Pacific Ocean spanning over the period from 2002 to 2021. The validation demonstrates that the model can accurately recover the vertical TA profiles with a limited number of parameters. This makes it suitable for analysing the spatial distribution patterns that require a large sample count. The analysis indicates that eddies with different TA profiles have a spatial aggregation effect in geographic distribution. Eddies with lower extreme temperature anomalies, at depths of 200–300 m, are mainly distributed along two bands on the north side of the Kuroshio Extension (KE) and the North Equatorial Current. Eddies with extreme TAs at the deepest depth (500–600 m) are distributed along the KE.

An efficient method for modeling and evaluating the bench terrain of open-pit mines

In order to quantitatively analyze the roughness of the bench floor during open-pit mine blasting, this study proposes a real-time measuring method for the three-dimensional terrain of the bench floor during the excavation process. Real-time monitoring is conducted at the boundary and discrete internal points of the workbench floor during electric shovel operation, utilizing real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system (RTK-GNSS) positioning technology. An improved convex hull algorithm is introduced to automatically extract the optimal boundary of discrete point clouds based on their spatial distribution characteristics. This study establishes a digital elevation model (DEM) using five interpolation algorithms for 3D terrain visualization simulation. Through cross-validation, a comparative analysis of the DEM accuracy, the simulation results of the ordinary kriging interpolation algorithm were found to be optimized. The optimized interpolation algorithm is applied to simulate the 3D terrain in the Dexing open-pit copper mine, and the relevant terrain parameters were calculated. This dataset can serve as a precise foundation for the real-time path planning of elevation blasting design and ground leveling operations.

[Spatial and Temporal Distribution Characteristics of Ozone Concentration and Health Benefit Assessment in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region from 2015 to 2020].

To evaluate the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of ambient ozone (O3) in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) Region, the land use regression (LUR) model and random forest (RF) model were used to simulate the ambient O3 concentration from 2015 to 2020. Meanwhile, all-cause, cardiovascular, and respiratory mortalities as well as economic losses attributed to O3 were also estimated. The results showed that upward trends with fluctuation were observed for ambient O3 concentration, mortalities, and economic losses attributable to O3 exposure in the BTH Region from 2015 to 2020. The areas with high O3 concentration and great changes were concentrated in the central and southwestern regions, whereas the concentration in the northern region was low, and the change degree was small. The spatial distribution of the mortalities was also consistent with the spatial distribution of O3 concentration. From 2015 to 2020, the economic losses regarding all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality increased in 13 cities of the BTH Region, whereas the economic losses of respiratory mortality decreased in 4 cities in the BTH Region. The results indicated that the priority areas for O3 control were not uniform. Specifically, Beijing, Tianjin, Hengshui, and Xingtai were vital areas for O3 pollution control in the BTH Region. Differentiated control measures should be adopted based on the characteristics of these target areas to decline O3 concentration and reduce health impacts and economic losses associated with O3 exposure.

[Health Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Soils of a City in Guangdong Province Based on Source Oriented and Monte Carlo Models].

Taking a city in Guangdong Province as the research area, the concentration and spatial distribution characteristics of heavy metals in the surface soil were studied to clarify the situation of soil heavy metal pollution and priority control factors, providing basic data for the prevention and control of soil heavy metal pollution in the city. The content characteristics of heavy metals in 221 soil samples in the city were analyzed, and the potential health risk assessment and source analysis were carried out through the Monte Carlo model, the potential health risk assessment (HRA) model, and the PMF receptor model. It was found that heavy metals ω(As), ω(Hg), ω(Cd), ω(Pb), ω(Cr), ω(Cu), ω(Ni), and ω(Zn) in the soil of the city were 18.16, 0.43, 1.46, 68.57, 98.34, 64.19, 26.53, and 257.32 mg·kg-1, respectively, with a moderate to high degree of variation. Except for Ni concentration, the soil concentrations of other heavy metal elements exceeded the background values of soil in Guangdong Province to a certain extent, and the concentrations of Cd and Zn exceeded the national secondary standards, resulting in severe heavy metal pollution; the main sources of heavy metals were industrial sources, and natural parent materials, lead battery manufacturing, transportation, artificial cultivation, and pesticide and fertilizer inputs also had an undeniable impact on the accumulation of heavy metals in the soil. Heavy metals in the soil had a certain degree of tolerable carcinogenic health risk for both children and adults, whereas non-carcinogenic risks could be ignored. The potential health risk of children was greater than that of adults, and the main exposure route was through oral intake. The input sources of pesticides and fertilizers and As should be the main controlling factors for the health risks of heavy metals in the city's soil, followed by mixed sources and Cr. There were differences in the spatial distribution characteristics and relative pollution levels of heavy metals, and it is necessary to deepen zoning monitoring and control, strengthen soil pollution prevention and control, and reduce human input of heavy metals in soil.

Seasonal and Spatial Distribution Characteristics of Sepia esculenta in the East China Sea Region: Transfer of the Central Distribution from 29° N to 28° N

The golden cuttlefish (Sepia esculenta) is an important cephalopod species with a lifespan of approximately one year. The species plays a crucial role in marine ecological support services and is commercially valuable in fisheries. In the seas around China, this species has emerged as the main target for cuttlefish fisheries, replacing Sepiella maindroni since the 1990s. Variations in oceanographic conditions associated with global warming could significantly impact the temporal-spatial distribution of the species. In this study, we performed bottom trawling surveys with four cruises during 2018–2019 in the East China Sea region to determine the current resource status and seasonal-spatial variations in S. esculenta. We found that the average individual weight (AIW) values were 4.87 and 519.00 g/ind at stations located at 30.50° N, 124.00° E and 30.50° N, 124.50° E, respectively, with the aggregation of larvae and parent groups in spring. The species was not distributed north of 32.00° N in summer. The catch per unit effort by weight (CPUEw) value decreased in the order of 2772.50→2575.20→503.29→124.36 g/h, corresponding to latitudes of 34.50° N→34.00° N→33.50° N→32.50° N 121.50° E in autumn. The most suitable fishing areas were the south of the East China Sea region in spring; the south of the East China Sea region extending to the center and outer parts of the East China Sea region in summer; the south of the Yellow Sea close to the Haizhou Bay fishing ground and the forbidden fishing line region of the Lusi and Dasha fishing grounds in autumn; and the south and center of the East China Sea region in winter. The most suitable sea bottom temperature (SBT) values from spring to winter were 14.76–20.53 °C, 19.54–22.98 °C, 11.79–17.64 °C, and 16.94–20.36 °C, respectively. The most suitable sea bottom salinity (SBS) values were 31.53–34.80‰ in spring, 32.95–34.68‰ in summer, 31.51–34.77‰ in autumn, and 33.82–34.51‰ in winter. We concluded the following: (1) the southern and northern areas of the East China Sea region are spawning and nursery grounds, respectively, in spring; (2) the central distribution is located at a latitude of 28.00° N in autumn and winter; and (3) the southern area of the Yangtze River to the north is a spawning ground in spring, and the areas located at 29.00–34.50° N, 124.00–124.50° E, and 28.00–30.50° N, 125.50–126.50° E are nursery grounds. The results of this study provide useful guidance for appropriate fisheries management, thereby avoiding a collapse in the S. esculenta population, which has been experienced in other species in this area.

Land use transition and its effect on ecosystem service value with introducing "three wastes" factor in the industrial county, China.

Land use transition and its impact on ecosystem service value (ESV) are the foundation for optimizing the layout of territorial space and ecological civilization construction. With the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, the area of construction land expands in China. To accurately estimate the ESV in industrial counties, the impact of construction land on the ecological environment should be fully considered. This paper took Gangcheng District, Jinan City, a steel base in the Shandong Province of China as an example, then the value coefficients of "three wastes" factors (waste gas, wastewater, and waste) were introduced, and an improved calculation method of ESV was put forward for industrial counties in combination with remote sensing and land use data. Finally, the land use transition and its ESV effect in typical industrial counties were analyzed using geo-informatic Tupu and grid method. The results showed that the most important land use transitions were from grassland and forestland to cultivated land, from cultivated land and forestland to construction land in 1990-2010, and from cultivated land transformed to forestland in 2010-2021. The types of land use transition were mainly repetitive and continuous. The ESV first decreased and then increased, with a slight overall decline for more than 30years, showing a spatial distribution characteristic of "low in the south-central and high around." Land use transition had the impact on ESV with the negative contribution rate of 68.28% in 1990-2000 and 73.16% in 2000-2010, mainly caused by the transition from forestland and grassland to cultivated land and construction land, and the positive contribution rate of 81.72% in 2010-2021, mainly caused by the transition from cultivated land to forestland. Compared with the ESV calculation method without introducing the "three wastes" factor and Xie Gaodi's method, the improved method in this paper considered the inevitable impact of construction land on ESV in industrial counties and made the ESV calculated more accurate according to the regional nature. This paper cannot only enrich the theories and technical methods of land use transition and its effects, and provide a case reference for similar industrial counties, but also provide data and decision-making support for the spatial layout and ecological protection in the study area.

Partial differential equation modelling of the solid–liquid phase process in iron sintering and interface control with backstepping method

Due to the highly continuous temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of the sintering process, the solid–liquid phase interface during sintering is uneven and discontinuous, which seriously affects the quality of sintered ore. In order to achieve real-time and effective control of the solid–liquid interface in the sintering system, this study proposes a spatiotemporally distributed partial differential equation (PDE) thermal system with Stefan interface boundaries. Slice the 3D sintering mixing space and establish a discrete 1D space multi-distributed system to achieve distributed control of the sintering thermal system. Based on this system, a distributed boundary controller is designed using the backstepping method to drive the solid–liquid phase interface to the desired position. This method fully adapts to the nonlinear problems of the sintering thermal system and can quickly respond to system changes. Based on real data from the sintering site, a multi-physics simulation model was designed to verify the correctness of the theoretical research. Comparing the simulation results with the actual sintering state shows that this control method can effectively control the position of the sintering solid–liquid interface, which plays a vital role in improving the quality of sinter and sintering efficiency.

Efficient nitrogen removal from mainstream sewage in tidal flow constructed wetlands: Targeted migration and conducive spatial distribution for pollutants removal

The tidal flow constructed wetland (TFCW) effectively removes nitrogen from mainstream wastewater but encounters limitations in denitrification, resulting in the accumulation of nitrate and nitrite nitrogen (NOx--N). In this study, we investigated the spatial distribution characteristics of pollutants and migration-transformation processes within the TFCW using the stratified analysis theories proposed. The results indicated that during the influent stage, 82.60 % of ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N) and 87.77 % of COD were adsorbed by the top and middle layers. In the drain stage's oxygen-rich environment, microorganisms and atmospheric oxygen oxidized NH4+-N to NOx--N, achieving in-situ regeneration of NH4+-N adsorption sites. Furthermore, 61.87 % of the NOx--N was washed into the bottom in the next influent stage, subsequently adsorbed by the biofilm, and finally reduced to gaseous nitrogen using carbon source as the electron donor at the drain stage. Consequently, inconsistent locations of carbon source and NOx--N were identified as limiting factors for denitrification in TFCW. Based on this, the study designed a two-way influent tide flow constructed wetland (TTFCW) by altering the influent pattern. It facilitated targeted carbon source addition for denitrification, resulting in a 3.30-fold improvement in actual carbon source utilization efficiency of TFCW. Ultimately, this approach resulted in a notable increase in NOx--N removal rate by 64.51 %, accompanied by a 28.32 % reduction in accumulation levels. This study fills the research gap in the internal distribution and migration-transformation of pollutants within TFCW, providing methods support for enhancing nitrogen removal in TFCW and ideas for denitrification in mainstream wastewater.

SDUST2020MGCR: a global marine gravity change rate model determined from multi-satellite altimeter data

Abstract. Investigating the global time-varying gravity field mainly depends on GRACE/GRACE-FO gravity data. However, satellite gravity data exhibit low spatial resolution and signal distortion. Satellite altimetry is an important technique for observing the global ocean and provides many consecutive years of data, which enables the study of high-resolution marine gravity variations. This study aims to construct a high-resolution marine gravity change rate (MGCR) model using multi-satellite altimetry data. Initially, multi-satellite altimetry data and ocean temperature–salinity data from 1993 to 2019 are utilized to estimate the altimetry sea level change rate (SLCR) and steric SLCR, respectively. Subsequently, the mass-term SLCR is calculated. Finally, based on the mass-term SLCR, the global MGCR model on 5′ × 5′ grids (SDUST2020MGCR) is constructed by applying the spherical harmonic function method and mass load theory. Comparisons and analyses are conducted between SDUST2020MGCR and GRACE2020MGCR resolved from GRACE/GRACE-FO gravity data. The spatial distribution characteristics of SDUST2020MGCR and GRACE2020MGCR are similar in the sea areas where gravity changes significantly, such as the eastern seas of Japan, the western seas of the Nicobar Islands, and the southern seas of Greenland. The statistical mean values of SDUST2020MGCR and GRACE2020MGCR in global and local oceans are all positive, indicating that MGCR is rising. Nonetheless, differences in spatial distribution and statistical results exist between SDUST2020MGCR and GRACE2020MGCR, primarily attributable to spatial resolution disparities among altimetry data, ocean temperature–salinity data, and GRACE/GRACE-FO data. Compared with GRACE2020MGCR, SDUST2020MGCR has higher spatial resolution and excludes stripe noise and leakage errors. The high-resolution MGCR model constructed using altimetry data can reflect the long-term marine gravity change in more detail, which is helpful in studying seawater mass migration and its associated geophysical processes. Variation in Debris-Flow-Prone Areas with Ecosystem Stability: A Case Study of the Qipan Catchment in the Wenchuan Earthquake Region

The spatial distribution of vegetation in a basin has a far-reaching influence on the potential for sediment separation and transport capacity. However, many landslides induced by strong earthquakes have greatly changed the existing pattern, which further increases the probability of debris flow in a basin during heavy rainfall and has a significant impact on the stability of the basin. Thus, this study selected the debris flow basin in the Qipan catchment of the Wenchuan earthquake area as the research object. Multisource and high-precision remote sensing images were used to analyze the land use changes in the basin, and the index of connectivity (IC) was introduced to analyze the evolution of sediment transport capacity. An ecosystem stability assessment method suitable for post-earthquake debris flow basins was proposed. Through quantitative assessment of the ecosystem stability of the basin after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and the two debris flow events after the earthquake, the dynamic relationship between the debris-flow-prone area and the ecosystem stability of the basin was revealed. The results showed that the stability of the ecosystem in the Qipan catchment increased annually, indicating a stable and substable state. The spatial distribution characteristics were lower in the north and south and greater in the middle. By comparing the evaluation results with the actual terrain change trend, the accuracy and feasibility of the evaluation method are verified. The results of this study provide a scientific basis for the formulation of regional disaster prevention strategies and help to accelerate the improvement of regional stability in debris-flow-prone areas.

Process of mercury accumulation in urban strip river artificial wetland ecosystems: a case study of Changchun, a typical industrial city in Northeast China

Mercury (Hg), as a global pollutant, is persistent, migratory, insidious, highly biotoxic and highly enriched, and is widely distributed in the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and lithosphere. Wetland ecosystems, as active mercury reservoirs, have become the most important sources and sinks of heavy metal mercury. Distinguished from natural wetlands, artificial wetlands located in urban sections of rivers face problems such as diverse urban pollution sources and complex spatial and temporal changes. Therefore, in this study, five intermittently distributed artificial wetlands were selected from the upstream to the downstream of the Changchun section of the Yitong River, a tributary of the Songhua River basin in the old industrial base of Northeast China. The mercury levels in the water bodies, sediments and plants of the artificial wetlands were collected and tested in four quarters from April 2023 to analyse the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of total mercury. The results showed that the mercury levels in the water bodies, sediments and plants of the five wetlands showed a fluctuating trend with the river flow direction and had certain spatial and temporal distribution characteristics. This phenomenon was attributed to the sinking of external mercury pollution sources. In general, the wetland ecosystems showed a decreasing trend in the total Hg output of the downstream watershed. This may be due to the retention of particulate matter by aquatic plants in artificial wetlands to regular salvage of dead aquatic plants. At the same time urbanization and industrialization affect mercury levels in aquatic environments, so the risk of residential exposure needs to be looked at.

A study on the spatial and temporal evolution patterns of water resource–ecology–social economy composite system resilience in the Huaihe River Basin

ABSTRACT Water resources are important supporting elements in the ecological environment and socio-economic system of sustainable development. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the comprehensive resilience level of the water resources–ecology–socioeconomic system against external disturbances in the Anhui and Shandong sections of the Huaihe River Basin. The comprehensive index system is constructed with the characteristic dimensions of resistance, resilience, and adaptability. Use the game theory combination weighting-VIKOR method to quantify the resilience level, and use the kernel density analysis and Markov chain to explore the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics and transition probability. The results show that (1) the resilience index of the composite system in the Huaihe River Basin shows an increasing trend, and the resilience level of the Anhui section is generally higher than that of the Shandong section. (2) The resilience level gradually evolved into the spatial distribution characteristics of high in the west and low in the east, high in the south and low in the north during the study period. (3) The resilience grade has strong robustness, and the probability of transferring to the higher grade is greater than that of transferring to the lower grade.

Characterising global ocean mesoscale eddy by AVISO and Haiyang-2 altimeter

ABSTRACT This work compares the Haiyang-2 (HY-2) altimeter data with the well-recognized satellite oceanographic data (AVISO) product in the global ocean in their capability of detecting mesoscale eddy. A well-established method to detect mesoscale eddies from HY-2 and AVISO was applied to the sea level anomaly (SLA) data on a global scale in 2021−2022. It is found that the number of mesoscale eddies derived from the HY-2 dataset is three times more than that from the AVISO dataset and with larger eddy kinetic energy (EKE), shorter lifespan and smaller amplitude. Besides, the monthly-averaged number of generated and terminated mesoscale eddies is similar and the temporal variation of SLA exhibits strong lunar oscillation for both datasets. Most mesoscale eddies are generated in the mid-latitude oceans due to the Coriolis force and the strong El Niño. In the western boundary of the global ocean, equator, Antarctic Ocean and other areas with strong currents, the mesoscale eddies have stronger SLA amplitudes, EKEs and vorticity. Furthermore, EKE is low at the centre and high at the eddy meander. The spatial distribution characteristics of vorticity are the same as those of EKEs in the western boundary of oceans, but the vorticity value of HY-2 data near the equator is larger than that of AVISO data. However, considering the large detection error of eddy near the equator, no further exploration will be conducted in this paper. Furthermore, mesoscale eddies tend to move in the east–west direction due to Coriolis force and wind (Ekman transport) effects and large-scale ocean circulation or the pathway of drifters also have a certain impact. Overall, similar to AVISO data, the HY-2 data is also reliable for mesoscale identification in global oceans.

A multidisciplinary approach to describe population structure of Solea solea in the Mediterranean Sea

Investigating marine species population structure in a multidisciplinary framework can reveal signatures of potential local adaptation and the consequences for management and conservation. In this study we delineate the population structure of common sole (Solea solea) in the Mediterranean Sea using genomic and otolith data, based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) markers, otolith shape and otolith trace element composition data. We correlated SNPs with environmental and spatial variables to evaluate the impact of the selected features on the actual population structure. Specifically, we used a seascape genetics approach with redundancy (RDA) and genetic-environmental association (GEA) analysis to identify loci potentially involved in local adaptation. Finally, putative functional annotation was investigated to detect genes associated with the detected patterns of neutral and adaptive genetic variation. Results from both genetic and otolith data suggested significant divergence among putative populations of common sole, confirming a clear separation between the Western and Eastern Mediterranean Sea, as well as a distinct genetic cluster corresponding to the Adriatic Sea. Evidence of fine-scale population structure in the Western Mediterranean Sea was observed at outlier loci level and further differentiation in the Adriatic. Longitude and salinity variation accounted for most of the wide and fine spatial structure. The GEA detected significant associated outlier loci potentially involved in local adaptation processes under highly structured differentiation. In the RDA both spatial distribution and environmental features could partially explain the genetic structure. Our study not only indicates that separation among Mediterranean sole population is led primarily by neutral processes because of low connectivity due to spatial segregation and limited dispersal, but it also suggests the presence of local adaptation. These results should be taken into account to support and optimize the assessment of stock units, including a review and possible redefinition of fishery management units.

Inversion of electron densities in plasma wakes of hypersonic targets

Focusing on the plasma wakes of hypersonic targets (PWHT), this work provides a method for the inversion of electron densities in the PWHT by integrating electromagnetic radiation theory and three-wave coupling theory (TWCT). Utilizing the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method, taking a blunt cone as an example, the spatial distribution characteristics of electron densities in the plasma wake are simulated and analyzed in detail. The Zakharov system of equations (ZSE) is applied to the PWHT for the discussion about the electromagnetic radiation generated by plasma parametric instability. Combining the wavenumber spectrum of electromagnetic radiation and the TWCT, an inverse method of the electron densities of plasma wakes is proposed and applied to a blunt cone model. The results indicate that the inversion error rate is effectively held below 1.37 %. Furthermore, reasons for errors are elucidated through the utilization of the wavenumber spectrum structure. The proposed method may contribute to the development of hypersonic wake diagnostic techniques, and offer new insights and directions for wind tunnel experiments, shock tube experiments, as well as research on hypersonic target detection.

Evaluating and simulating the impacts of land use patterns on carbon emissions in coal resource-based regions: A case study of shanxi province, China

It is essential for sustainable development worldwide to reduce carbon emissions (CE), however, how land use patterns in coal resource-based regions (CRBRs) affect CE remains less explored. Based on socioeconomic data and GlobeLand30, this study evaluated and predicted the influence of land use patterns on CE in Shanxi Province from 2000 to 2030. The key findings are as follows: (1) From 2000 to 2020, the area of cropland in the study area decreased by 4.85 × 105 ha and the area of construction land increased by 4.38 × 105 ha, with the increase in construction land coming mainly from cropland. (2) There was an increasing trend in the overall net CE, from 3.17 × 107 t in 2000 to 3.89 × 107 t in 2010 and 6.38 × 107 t in 2020. The land use CE had a spatial distribution characteristic of being high in the west and south and low in the east and north. The total CE was the largest in 2030 in business-as-usual scenario (BAUs), and the CE class of the cities in the study area was mainly high CE, while the ecological and economic balance scenario (EEBs) was higher CE. In 2030, the BAUs will have the largest total CE, and the CE levels of the cities will mainly high CE. (3) The decoupling state between the land use mix degree (LUM) and CE in the study area was mainly an expansionary negative decoupling over the past 20 years and changed from long negative decoupling to weak decoupling in the economic development priority scenario (EDPs) and strong decoupling in EEBs, which might be better suited to the future development of Shanxi Province. This study makes it easier to comprehend how different land use patterns affect the number of CE in CRBRs. Additionally, it provides other CRBRs with a theoretical framework and instances needed to research CE.

Estimation of Maize Residue Cover Using Remote Sensing Based on Adaptive Threshold Segmentation and CatBoost Algorithm

Maize residue cover (MRC) is an important parameter to quantify the degree of crop residue cover in the field and its spatial distribution characteristics. It is also a key indicator of conservation tillage. Rapid and accurate estimation of maize residue cover (MRC) and spatial mapping are of great significance to increasing soil organic carbon, reducing wind and water erosion, and maintaining soil and water. Currently, the estimation of maize residue cover in large areas suffers from low modeling accuracy and poor working efficiency. Therefore, how to improve the accuracy and efficiency of maize residue cover estimation has become a research hotspot. In this study, adaptive threshold segmentation (Yen) and the CatBoost algorithm are integrated and fused to construct a residue coverage estimation method based on multispectral remote sensing images. The maize planting areas in and around Sihe Town in Jilin Province, China, were selected as typical experimental regions, and the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was employed to capture maize residue cover images of sample plots within the area. The Yen algorithm was applied to calculate and analyze maize residue cover. The successive projections algorithm (SPA) was used to extract spectral feature indices from Sentinel-2A multispectral images. Subsequently, the CatBoost algorithm was used to construct a maize residue cover estimation model based on spectral feature indices, thereby plotting the spatial distribution map of maize residue cover in the experimental area. The results show that the image segmentation based on the Yen algorithm outperforms traditional segmentation methods, with the highest Dice coefficient reaching 81.71%, effectively improving the accuracy of maize residue cover recognition in sample plots. By combining the spectral index calculation with the SPA algorithm, the spectral features of the images are effectively extracted, and the spectral feature indices such as NDTI and STI are determined. These indices are significantly correlated with maize residue cover. The accuracy of the maize residue cover estimation model built using the CatBoost model surpasses that of traditional machine learning models, with a maximum determination coefficient (R2) of 0.83 in the validation set. The maize residue cover estimation model constructed based on the Yen and CatBoost algorithms effectively enhances the accuracy and reliability of estimating maize residue cover in large areas using multispectral imagery, providing accurate and reliable data support and services for precision agriculture and conservation tillage.

In Situ Test and Numerical Analysis of the Subway-Induced Vibration Influence in Historical and Cultural Reserves.

Although the rapid expansion of urban rail transit offers convenience to citizens, the issue of subway vibration cannot be overlooked. This study investigates the spatial distribution characteristics of vibration in the Fayuan Temple historic and cultural reserve. It involves using a V001 magnetoelectric acceleration sensor capable of monitoring low amplitudes with a sensitivity of 0.298 V/(m/s2), a measuring range of up to 20 m/s2, and a frequency range span from 0.5 to 100 Hz for in situ testing, analyzing the law of vibration propagation in this area, evaluating the impact on buildings, and determining the vibration reduction scheme. The reserve is divided into three zones based on the vertical vibration level measured during the in situ test as follows: severely excessive, generally excessive, and non-excessive vibration. Furthermore, the research develops a dynamic coupling model of vehicle-track-tunnel-stratum-structure to verify the damping effect of the wire spring floating plate track and periodic pile row. It compares the characteristics of three vibration reduction schemes, namely, internal vibration reduction reconstruction, periodic pile row, and anti-vibration reinforcement or reconstruction of buildings, proposing a comprehensive solution. Considering the construction conditions, difficulty, cost, and other factors, a periodic pile row is recommended as the primary treatment measure. If necessary, anti-vibration reinforcement or reconstruction of buildings can serve as supplemental measures.
